| Garfit to lead SHM Smith Hodgkinson |
Charles Garfit, a hugely respected MRICS plant and machinery professional, has been appointed Managing Director of SHM Smith Hodgkinson. Garfit joins SHM from Go Industry, where he managed the Corporate Disposal and Corporate Solutions Departments for the UK and Europe.
He said: “With the expansion of the Easter European business and growing opportunities in the UK and Europe, this is an exciting time to be joining SHM. Working closely with our parent company Gordon Brother, we are able to offer a variety of new and innovative services to corporate and lender clients alike. I am excited by the challenges ahead and look forward to leading what is an experienced and dedicated group of professionals.”
Throughout his career, Garfit has built up considerable global experience in the plant and machinery, insolvency, banking and asset-based lending sectors. He has set up GoI Nordic and been responsible for a large plant, machinery and inventory valuation team.
His appointment was welcomed by Malcolm MacAulay of Gordon Brothers, the parent company of SHM.
He said: “I am convinced that Charles’ knowledge and energy coupled with his experience of business development will be a huge asset to SHM as, together, we look to drive the business to new levels.”
He takes over from departing Managing Director, Mark Bailey, who has decided to step down to concentrate on a new venture.
